Symbols of the Land is an ongoing drawing class for adults focused on Texas-inspired objects and imagery. Each week, students will draw a different subject rooted in the landscape and culture of Texas—hats, boots, barns, longhorns, native flowers, tools, and other familiar forms.

This class emphasizes observational drawing skills, including proportion, line quality, shading, and basic composition. Students will work primarily with pencil and graphite, learning how to see shapes more clearly and translate three-dimensional objects into strong drawings on paper. Reference images and objects may be provided, with guidance offered at each step.
